Richard A.Rothwell, Sr.—1/28/2018

Richard A.Rothwell  Sr.(Poppy), 90, of Lafayette Hill passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 28, 2018.

Beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Mischler) and survived by his five children, Rick (Ronnie), Connie (John), Mike, Ellen (Dan) and Brian (Sue), fifteen grandchildren: Colleen, Kim  (PJ) and Greg; John Jr. (Linda), Ryan (Kerinne) and Andrew (Lauren);  Michael Jr., Lauren, Shawn and Leah; Danny, Maggie and Bridget;  Julia (Anthony) and Colin and four great grandchildren: Kieran, Rory, Jack and Sophie. Also survived by his brothers Bill, Jack and sister Mary Lee and predeceased by brothers Bob and Dave.

Poppy lived satisfying his life’s purpose…his family.  He preached “family” at every function and was proud to say that nothing is more important. He was a hard worker and never succumbed to anything that would derail his inner purpose.  His parents, Bill and Marguerite (Pop Pop and Nana) instilled these qualities in him.

Poppy loved watching the Eagles, music, playing golf and working on his home. In his youth, he loved sports, especially football and softball. He was devoted to his church and supported it on his off-hours any way he could.

This gentle man was always there to help and support his family, relatives and friends. A WW II soldier, Poppy was part of a breed of men that knew the true purpose of life. His sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, siblings and friends know no different.

Services will be held at Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA  19444 on Saturday, February 3rd. Viewing between 9:30 and 11:30. Mass will begin at 11:30.  Poppy will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Donations can be made to St. Philip Neri Church.
