Michael J. Madden—8/20/2025

June 25, 1968 – August 20, 2025

Michael James Madden, beloved husband, father, and pops, passed away, August 20, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home in Lansdale, PA. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, to James and Geraldine Madden. He grew up there with his sisters, Rosemary (Madden) and Anne (Ferry).

Michael was married to his devoted wife, JoAnne, for 32 amazing years. They met at Ponderossa restaurant, where they fell into a love many can only dream of. They were married July 3, 1993, at St. Thomas Aquinas in Croydon, PA. They then moved to Lansdale, PA, to their forever home, where they had two children, Emma Mary and Joseph Michael Madden. He was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and laughter to his family. His ultimate joy was being a loving Pops to Sienna Rae and Caden Joseph, his joyful grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, JoAnne Madden (Brown); his two sisters, Rosemary and Anne (Ferry); his two children, Emma and Joseph Madden (Carli Madden); his two grandchildren, Sienna Rae and Caden Joseph; and his many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Geraldine Madden, and father, James Madden.

Professionally, Michael excelled in his education. He graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School. He obtained his Master’s of Physical Therapy at Temple University and started his career at Frankford Hospital. He proceeded to continue his education at Temple University, receiving his MBA to better pursue an administration position. He balanced both administration and patient care at Holy Redeemer Home Care and, most recently, Doylestown Hospital Home Care. He had a tremendous impact on both his staff and the community he served.

Michael not only excelled professionally but also in any hobby he tried. You could often spot him biking in his bright shirts on the 202 expressway, potentially being chased by some dogs or followed by hawks. He truly loved being on a bike in nature. His most notable rides were the Covered Bridge Run and the 100-mile Run. Many of his loved ones have one of his incredible stained glass pieces hanging around their house, constantly reminding them of his love and support. He was an active member of St. Stanislaus Church, where his children attended school, and was most notably a Cub and Boy Scout leader to Joe’s troop, as well as a baseball coach for the CYO baseball team.

Michael will be remembered for his influence on all of those around him. He was known for his loving smile, compassionate heart, and strong, unwavering support. He was always willing to help out his loved ones with a smile. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Funeral Mass to honor and celebrate Michael’s legacy and love will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA 19446. Visitation will take place before the Mass, from 9 AM to 10:45 AM. Inurnment will follow Mass in the St. Stanislaus Columbarium. Michael asks all to wear colors and flowers to his service, as it is not a time to mourn but to celebrate all the love he brought to those he knew. Please refrain from suit jackets and ties per Michael’s request. A celebratory luncheon will follow at Bacco Italian Restaurant at 1:00 PM (587 DeKalb Pike, North Wales, PA 1945).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Michael’s name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (https://mda.donordrive.com). The Madden family extends their deepest appreciation for the love and support that they have received not only during this difficult time, but throughout the last 3 years as he and his family came to terms with ALS. They send their love and support to all who are touched by this disease.

“I, I did it all. I, I did it all.
I owned every second that this world could give.
I saw so many places. The things that I did.
Yeah, with every broken bone. I swear I lived”
