Joseph C. Beyer, 95, of Spring House Estates, formerly of Colmar, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016. He was a combat-wounded WWII veteran, U.S. Army Air Corps, European Theater, who participated in the D-Day Invasion of France and other operations in the liberation of Nazi-occupied Europe.
He was married for 55 years to the late Hedwig (Jean) Heim (1915-2000). He is survived by four children: Maria Genovese (Michael); Patricia Gahl (Arno); Vincenz Wingell (William); and, Joseph K. Beyer (Rita). He is also survived by five grandchildren: Joshua, Matthew, Melissa, Karl and Heidi; three great-grandchildren: Caleb, Micah and Emily; and, three brothers: John, Charles and Henry Beyer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie McGowan.
Joseph was a 1973 graduate of LaSalle College and had a career as a mechanical and electrical engineer, working for Leeds and Northrup Corporation and then Drexelbrook Engineering.
He was a devout member of St. Stanislaus Parish in Lansdale for 63 years where he served as a lector and was a member of the church choir for more than 40 years.
He was a member of the Philadelphia Glider Council where he achieved his glider pilot license at the age of 85.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday morning, June 2, 2016 at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446. Viewing at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment is immediately following Mass at St. John Neumann Cemetery.
